Iran and New Zealand play to thrilling draw

This one had everything. New Zealand twice led through Eric Just; Iran twice hauled themselves level. When the dust settled it was 2-2, and neither side could feel hard done by.

Just opened the scoring in the seventh minute, set up by Chris Wood, and Iran needed until the 32nd to respond through Ramin Rezaeian. The pattern repeated after the break: Just struck again on 54, Wood again the architect, before Mehdi Mohebi equalised on 64, Rezaeian this time turning provider.

A point apiece keeps both alive in the group. New Zealand will wonder about the leads they could not protect; Iran will take heart from their refusal to be beaten.
