England starts with a thrilling win over Croatia

England opened their World Cup with a thrilling, occasionally nervy 4-2 win over a Croatia side that refused to go quietly.
Harry Kane set the tone from the penalty spot on 12 minutes, but Croatia hit back through Martin Baturina on 36. Kane restored the lead before the break, finishing a Declan Rice pass, only for Petar Musa to level again right on half-time. The turning point came two minutes after the restart, when Jude Bellingham put England back in front.
Marcus Rashford's late strike, set up by Bukayo Saka, finally settled it. England got the win their attacking quality deserved, but Croatia's refusal to fold will have given them plenty to ponder at the back.
