Congo DR secure historic point in draw with Portugal

Congo DR announced themselves on the World Cup stage with a battling draw against Portugal, holding one of the tournament's favourites to a share of the spoils.
Portugal made the perfect start when João Neves finished a Pedro Neto cross inside six minutes, and the early flurry hinted at a long night for the debutants. But Congo DR grew into the game and got their reward on the stroke of half-time, Yoane Wissa finishing a move begun by Arthur Masuaku.
Portugal pressed for a winner after the break but found Congo DR resolute. It is a famous point for the underdogs, and a frustrating evening for a Portuguese side that will feel they should have put the game to bed.
