Canada 1-1 Bosnia and Herzegovina: Larin's late strike rescues a point

Canada left it late, but they left BMO Field with a point. Cyle Larin came off the bench and equalised in the 78th minute to earn the co-hosts a 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in their World Cup opener.
Bosnia draw first blood
Bosnia and Herzegovina settled quicker and went in front, quietening a sold-out crowd that had come to celebrate. For long stretches Canada looked like a young side feeling the occasion, struggling to turn possession into clear chances.
Larin off the bench
The change came from the substitutes. Larin, on as a replacement, found the net in the 78th minute to level the game and lift the noise back up. It was the kind of intervention a home tournament needs early: a reason to believe.
What it means
A point is not the win the crowd wanted, but it is a start, and on a night when Canada were second best for spells it counts for something. Group B is wide open after one round.
