Amad Diallo's late heroics secure victory for Ivory Coast
For 90 minutes Ecuador held firm. Then Amad Diallo broke their hearts. The Ivory Coast forward struck in the 90th minute, Wilfried Singo the provider, to win a game that had looked destined for a goalless draw.
It was a contest of few clear chances, both defences on top, and Ecuador will feel they did enough to leave with a point. Instead they leave with nothing.
Ivory Coast were patient and got their reward at the last. Three points from a night that offered so little is the mark of a side that knows how to win ugly.
